Type 316L or T-316L is a very low carbon stainless steel containing molybdenum for superior corrosion resistance. 316L stainless steel wire mesh screen is particularly resistant to pitting by solutions containing chloride ions, phosphoric acid, sulphuric acid, and brine solutions. The general corrosion resistance is similar to Type 316 SS, but 316L SS has superior resistance to inter granular corrosion following welding. Type 316L is used over 316 in assemblies which cannot be annealed after fabrication by welding. 316 L Stainless Steel Wire Mesh can be used at temperatures up to 1600°F. Type 316L wire mesh screen is nonmagnetic in the annealed and slightly magnetic when cold worked.
Applications of 316L SS wire mesh screen
Chemical Industry, Food Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, refining, power plant, aircraft, photographic, Textile Industry, Paper equipment and strainers.
In salt water applications of both 316 and 316L SS wire mesh will show improved results over 304 and 304L SS.

The maximum safe temperature is about 2000°F, but is successfully used up to 2100°F under certain conditions. 310 Stainless Steel wire mesh performs well under intermittent heating and cooling.
